Transformation today is a popular word within the executive coaching industry. There are even certifications including one identified as the Transformational Coaching Method.
Yet, as is the case with many words, the original meaning gets lost with everyone’s spin on what it means to transform or being transformed.
Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines the word, transform, “as to change (something) completely and usually in a good way.” If we delve more into the origins of this word, we learn it is from two Latin words ‘trans’ meaning across and ‘formare’ meaning to form. Returning to the word transformation, this is the process of transforming or changing.
When a process is consistently employed, the change is more likely to be sustainable and will almost naturally evolve to that next level. The challenge is some coaches lack a proven process from which to support transformational change.
There are three key words that are imperative in a successful transformational coaching process. Read about them in the current edition.
